February 1 to 27  SAGA Public Art Gallery presents "Wish You Were Here," an invitational international postcard exhibition, featuring original 4x6 works from artists all over the world.  Postcards are for sale – almost 400 to choose from!  New gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm.  Exhibition sponsored by Askew's Foods.

Feb 2 to March 9  Shuswap Life Drawing Group begins its new session in the lower level of the Arts Centre, 7:30pm each Tuesday for six weeks.  Drop-in $10 (students $5) or $55 for six sessions.  Non-instructional, model provided.  Call (250) 832-6522 to register or for more info.

Thursday, February 25  The Switzmalph Cultural Society will show the 94 minute documentary, "The Fallen Feather - Indian Industrial Schools-Canadian Confederation,” 7:30 pm at the Salmar Classic in Salmon Arm. Produced and directed by Randy Bezeau and co-produced and hosted by Jannica Hoskins who worked with Dr. Mary Thomas. Tickets $7 advance at Askews, Haney Heritage Society, and the Matchbox; or $8 at the door. For information call Louis @ 250-833-9018.

Saturday, Feb 27  Runaway Moon Theatre presents a Dance/Movement Workshop with Kristi Christian at the Anglican Hall, 3 - 4pm.  Everyone welcome to participate in this and upcoming workshops to create art, music and dance for the community project “Water.”  Contact info@runawaymoon.org, or (250) 306-3935 for more info.

Saturday, Feb 27   Art Bargains! SAGA Public Art Gallery presents “Art in the Attic,” a sale and auction of previously-loved works that have been donated to the gallery for fundraising. Free admission. At 7pm the calls start for the postcard sales as well.  Preview of works on Friday, Feb 26 and Saturday during regular gallery hours. Come and support the gallery by purchasing these generously donated works.

Saturday, Feb 27  Shuswap Film Society presents Belgium film “Moscow, Belgium” at 7:30pm at Salmar Classic Theatre.

Wednesday, March 3  Shuswap Film Society presents Canadian film “Fierce Light,” 7:30pm at Salmar Classic Theatre. 

Thursday, March 4  Jazz Night at the Gallery, 7pm to 9pm, featuring the Jon Treichel Quartet from Kamloops.  Admission by donation.

Friday, March 5  SAGA Public Art Gallery presents “Colours of the Shuswap,” a juried exhibition of work by local artists.  7pm, featuring live music and wonderful goodies.  Sponsored by Jeff Stacer Real Estate Team.  Gallery hours Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm.  Admission by donation.

Saturday, March 6  Shuswap Film Society presents Canada/Ireland film “Love & Savagery,” 7:30pm at Salmar Classic Theatre.

March 5 to 13  Shuswap Theatre presents “Two Gents,” an adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona,” adapted by James Bowlby.  8pm nightly, no show Monday, Sunday matinee at 1:30pm, preview night March 4.  Tickets $15 adult, $10 student available at Wearabouts.

Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 7  Monashee Chamber Choir and Orchestra performs Handel’s Dixit Dominus, plus pieces by Rachmaninoff, Percell, A. Gentles, Mozart and others.  7:30pm on Saturday, 2:30pm on Sunday at Cornerstone Christian Reformed Church in Salmon Arm.  Tickets $20, students free, available at Wearabouts in Salmon Arm, and True Value Hardware in Sicamous.

Saturday, March 13  The Met:  Live in HD presents an encore performance of “Carmen.”  10am at the Salmar Classic.  Approximate running time 4 hours, 2 intermissions.

Saturday, March 13  Shuswap Film Society presents a USA film “Up in the Air,” 7:30pm at Salmar Classic Theatre.

Sunday, March 14  Kamloops Symphony presents “Irish Rhapsody,” at 2pm at SASCU Recreation Centre in Salmon Arm. Program includes Cable “Newfoundland Rhapsody,” Stanford “An Irish Rhapsody,” Harty “Ode to a Nightengale” and more.  Tickets online at www.kamloopslive.com or call toll-free 1-866-374-5483, $25 for adults, $10 for students.

March 15 to 19  SAGA Public Art Gallery presents a Spring Break Art Camp for kids aged 8 to 13.  9am to noon each day, featuring drawing by Lisa Figueroa, pottery, painting and more.  $150, all supplies are included.  Registration forms available at front desk or by emailing sagapublicartgallery@telus.net.  Register by March 5.

March 18 & 19  Music of the Louisiana Hayride in Story and Song, 7:30pm each night at Shuswap Theatre.  Tickets $20 available at Touch ‘a Texas and Acorn Music.  Call Gil for more info, 250 833-0003.

March 18 and 19  Shuswap NeedleArts Guild presents “All Around the Circle,” a beading workshop by Toronto designer William Hodge, to be held at Sunnybrae Seniors Hall.  Those interested in participating can contact Sandra Baker at (250) 832-0972.  Hodge’s website is armurestudios.ca.

Thursday, March 18 Shuswap District Arts Council presents “Coffee Break,” from 2pm to 4pm at SAGA Public Art Gallery. Enjoy coffee and cookies while you peruse the juried exhibition “Colours of the Shuswap.”  Many artists will be in attendance.

Thursday, March 18  Jazz Night at the Gallery, featuring Brian PJ and friends.  7pm to 9pm, admission by donation.

Saturday, March 20  Acoustic Avenue presents an Equinox concert, 7pm at SAGA Public Art Gallery.  Music guests yet to be announced. 

Saturday, March 20  Shuswap Film Society presents Canadian film “Cooking with Stella,” 7:30pm at Salmar Classic Theatre.

Saturday, March 27  The Met:  Live in HD presents “Hamlet” by Thomas. Approximate running time 3 hours 45 minutes - 1 intermission. Featuring Louis Langrée; Natalie Dessay, Jennifer Larmore, Toby Spence, Simon Keenlyside, James Morris. 10am at the Salmar Classic.

Saturday, March 27  Shuswap Film Society presents Canada/UK/USA “The Young Victoria,” at 7:30pm at Salmar Classic Theatre.
