Sandy Spooner RR#1, S 8, C 11, Chase BC As a child, Sandy loved reading stories about pioneer women and how they made beautiful home furnishings from scraps of cloth. She also developed a fascination for combining colours and textures. Moving to Turtle Valley in 1971 let Sandy realize her dream of being a "pioneer woman." She had a small flock of sheep and taught herself how to spin wool. A neighbour made her a large loom out of local birch trees and Sandy began to develop her unique, cozy, handwoven rugs made from handspun wool and recycled scraps of cloth.
